Lady in Red (pants)

Lady in Red (pants)

When it's dreary outside - much like it is today I love to dress in bright, bold colors. I feel like color therapy applies to my wardrobe. Feeling sad? Slap on some bright yellow and you can't help but be cheery. So here is an example of a bold, fun outfit based around red pants. I've been loving red pants for awhile now but I always do the classic Black & White pairing with them - boring! So here we have an equally bright and cheery yellow with neutrals and some sassy animal prints to accent. Rock the aviators and leather wrapped bracelet to downplay the bold colors. I just love this outfit - so fun and what a great pick-me-up!

Oh, Jessica.

So since I work at a store, I tend not to do a lot of shopping (who am I kidding - I do A LOT of shopping). Ok, so maybe just not at my store. However I made a special trip recently to good ol' Dillards and found this awesome shirt for only $10! This is from Jessica Simpson and I loooove the sleeves. Its a cool hunter green color which I feel is season-less. So I'm totally looking forward to sporting this one in the winter too. It's sheer so I can change it up with different colors underneath. Thanks Jessica! (we're friends) And I forgive you for that whole tuna-chicken of the sea incident... and I swear I totally understand where you're coming from! But thanks for the sweet top!

Check out these awesome sleeves!

Gorgeous, eh?

The same, only different

I swear this whole outfit is based on the earrings. Its funny where you get your inspiration from sometimes. These gorgeous earrings are shells that have been dyed to fade from blue to turquoise - just stunning with gold trim.

So I'm obviously loving this turquoise, black & white combo. Here's an adaptation from my own closet presently - although I wish I could buy that set I made the other day - adorable! This black top is great because it's vertical stripes - therefore its very slimming! And I love these white jeans-  they are soo comfy and I love the contrast it creates!

Yeah, I'm diggin the wayfarer's - but they always remind me of Tom Cruise in Risky Business - tighty whities and all... haha!

Cheapy Mc Cheapster aka me

So we drove around last night looking for something fun to do along the Cuyahoga in Downtown Cleveland - the sun was gorgeous off the water and the view of the bridges blocking the sun was breathtaking. So we found a ginormous parking lot and decided to stop & meander around. Enter Mr. Parking attendant dude - "Yo - that'll be ten dollars." Psssssshhhhhh... you're kidding, right? We were in the -not gonna pay for diddily kinda mood- especially just to look at the lake - I'm pretty sure looking at big ol' Lake Erie is always free buddy
{insert light bulb hovering over our heads}
(in my best sweet little girl voice) "Oh, we were just looking to turn around dear, kind, sir, (ok, maybe I didn't say that last sir part but I was definetly batting my lashes)
And this driveway was huge - I clearly meant to drive into the lot and could have done a couple donuts before entering the parking lot - there was NO way I just wanted to turn around... however:
My lashes or dumb look on my face convinced Mr. fine-public-servant-parking-attendant guy.
"Oh, of course lovely young lady - you may pass through without a fee" (ok, maybe it wasn't that lavish, but you get the idea)
* Cha-ching! *
And we parked - almost immediately, snickered for a good half hour and enjoyed a lovely impromptu reggae concert on the water (maybe that's why you had to pay for parking, oppsie)

Summer Festivals

It's summer and the festivals are here in full swing - yay! I looove festivals. The rides, the games, the food, the corny prizes and the carnies hollerin at ya to play their game. Love it. However sometimes its hard to dress for a festival. The exhaust from the rides and the steam coming from those gyro-makin grills makes it a steamy occasion and when riding the rides who knows which way your body will get flipped. So here's my recommendation for dressing up this summer for those awesome festivals:
Bun it up:
Who doesn't love Carrie Bradshaw? When your hair is in a bun it's totally glam and less likely to fly out of place or get ruined by a splash from the kiddies and their dang squirt guns.
OR braid it up:
I love this braided boho look Nicole Richie is rockin here- it's so stylish and keep its hold all night long. Plus if you have highlights in your hair it makes them look amazing!
Some sample dresses for the occasion (most of em are under 50 big ones) :

Enjoy the festivals out there lovelies!

Spontaneous Adventures

Yesterday it was a gorgeous day - a perfect day for a drive around. Windows down, hair blowin, sunshine and sunnies - it was bliss.

On my drive we ended up catching some amazing views of Downtown Cleveland around sunset - how lucky is that? It was really breathtaking - and completely spur of the moment. Its the little adventures like these that make such lasting memories. I know I will never forget how lucky we were and how proud these views of my city make me. I'm so proud to be from Cleveland - it's a gorgeous city!

Because it was cheap, it's cuter on me.

Its a beautiful day here in Willoughby! Bright sun and blue skies. In the summer I often have a fashion dilemma - with it being so hot you can't layer items so you're stuck with just one top and one bottom. I get easily bored with my closet because I'm just picking two items. But tops like these - with colorful patterns and designs are much more fascinating (that's right, I said fascinating.) And my orange polish pops with this top. :)
I went garage sale shopping this morning so I was looking for something casual that I could also wear straight to work. This top is perfect because you just put it on and "Voila!" you look snazzy. How can I look snazzy you ask? Here's how:
This top is from NoMoreRack.com for only $9! This top is made by Ricki's and comes in a variety of sizes and colors - I bought the tangerine one above also. The great thing about No More Rack is that they feature new deals everyday and they are all incredibly cheap! AND they ship super quick - I got my tops 2 days later and for only $2! I couldn't be happier!
Because this top was such a great deal I feel so much prettier in it - my pride about my great purchase makes my smile bigger... its like an instant makeover.

Coco Chanel and Color

Its so nice and warm here today! I hope its just as nice and warm where you are. I watched the movie Coco & Igor the other day. Very dramatic movie - that must be how the French like it. But it was interesting. One scene I really like was when one of Coco's guests in her homes says "Mademoiselle it seems you don't like color?" And Coco responds with "I like color, as long as its black" See most of her house is black and white in the movie. I love how they decorated it. If you have a chance definitely watch the movie - its on Netflix!

And now onto my outfit for the day:

Surprise Sun

So today it was supposed to rain alll day. We've had a record breaking rainy - more like monsoon season here in Cleveland. So I was planning on rain - therefore wore layers. However it was 75 and mostly sunny !!!- we were very pleasantly surprised today. Still kinda swampy but it was nice to see that big thing in the sky - the sun? I was worried it was gonna pull a fast one on us and never come back. So here's my mostly black - with a splash of green outfit.
So I visited Old Navy this past weekend because I'm a sucker and they emailed me that "most" of the store would be $6 and under (!!!!, right?) . Well instead they put signs up that said 6 and under in small designated areas but didn't change the prices on the clothes... so it was a little confusing. But anywho, I picked up these black skinny jeans for yes - $6. Not sure I'm diggin them but maybe they will grow on me.
